Junior Sailing

Hoover Junior Sailing

Intensity and competition are the hallmarks of this program. This competitive summer training and racing program is for experienced young sailors (ages 7-18) using single-, double- and triple-handed boats. We compete in the Inter-Lake Yachting Association (I-LYA) Traveler Series regattas throughout Ohio and Michigan on inland lakes and Lake Erie.

Junior sailing focuses on teamwork, sportsmanship and sailing skills. Our team brings the following accomplishments:

  • several nationally and regionally ranked junior racing champions
  • dominates I-LYA Traveler Series regattas and Junior Championships with podium placements at nearly every event
  • focuses on training with experienced coaching and many opportunities to hone skills

HSC Junior Race Team

Junior Sailors ages 7 to 18 may join the HSC Junior Race Team for opportunities to race other Clubs in the Inter-Lake Yachting Association (I-LYA), through the I-LYA Traveler Series, I-LYA Junior Bay Week on the beautiful island of Put-In-Bay and other area junior regattas. Team members are typically successful graduates of Hoover’s Sail Instruction or otherwise demonstrate proficiency in racing Optimists, Lasers, Laser Radials, C420′s, and Thistles.
