The fall has arrived which will bring our greatest sailing of the year. The water is warm and the winds should be up. This also means that our opportunities to sail this year will end in four weeks, unless you are part of the “frost biters”. It was great to see the collegiate sailors competing on September 18. Many of our members were collegiate sailors and have great stories of their time sailing then.
As we finish up our season, let’s be mindful of the sailors who have late year plans. Many of us will be using our boats right up to October 27th when the lower lot will need to be cleared for Docks out on October 30th. If you move your boat for the winter up to the upper east dry lot, make sure the adjacent boat can be accessed by the owner.
The decision to cancel the Annual Banquet in November was not an easy one. The COVID numbers are increasing and the mask mandates put us in a position where predicting the situation in mid-November was difficult. However, we did decide to continue our tradition of presenting awards and will recognize all of our fine sailors, dedicated volunteers and remarkable storytellers on October 24—the last day of our regular sailing season. Please join us at the club as we gather together after racing and enjoy the celebration and time together. Stay tuned for more details.
