What a great summer evening on August 28 when the members of HSC came together to honor our past commodores at the annual Past Commodores Steak Roast. There were 14 past Commodores In attendance. It’s tradition that the commodores “roast” the steaks on our grill. This year they prepared 63 delicious steaks (and chicken, and maybe a veggie burger or two).
What made the night special was Past Commodore Dan Sadivnychy receiving his flag. He served in this role in 1981. Dan was one of the many leaders at the club that inspired my personal love of sailing. When he was the Commodore, I was a very young man and Dan always found time to encourage, instruct and challenge the young (and now old) sailor of today.
Thank you, Dan, for your many years of leadership, dedication and legacy to the then Hoover “Yacht” Club.
A big thank you to Joyce Lohner and the Social Committee volunteers that helped and Flying Scot fleet volunteers for all of the delicious appetizers and desserts!
