Since the onset of Covid-19 in March, our lives have been turned upside down. “Maintain six feet between you and another person, be sure to wear your mask and, of course, wash your hands.” I think all of us are tired of guidance and instruction. One of the bright spots of my year has been the outstanding leadership and management of club activities by our Commodore and Board.
Their efforts resulted in maintenance of some degree of normalcy. Their cautious yet common-sense directives made for a very enjoyable summer. Sure, we missed the hamburgers and beer on Wednesday nights as well as the annual Island Party and miscellaneous events. Still, we were able to enjoy consistent, dependable and reliable Wednesday, Sunday and regatta racing schedules.
Thanks to the many who assured our time on the water as well as outside the clubhouse was well managed. Being able to sail during this ongoing pandemic was a great distraction from the chaos of 2020.
I’m sure I speak for many of our members when I say to the 2020 Commodore and Board of Governors, many thanks for a great summer of sailing.
